World’s Shortest Man: Junrey Balawing Is New Record-Hol derOfficially he is the world's shortest man as per Guinness World Records official Craig Glenday visit the rural town of Sindangan, Mindanao Island in the southern Philippines.
Guinness World Records presented Junrey Balawing, a 59.93cm (23.6 inches) tall just little quite the size of a ruler and was given a certificate at his 18th birthday.He is 7cm shorter than the previous record holder, Khagendra Thapa Magar from Nepal, who had the record since last October.
According to the BBC Wired News, the event was being attended by Guinness World Records official Craig Glenday together with his staff, well-wishers, including politicians that presented him cash gifts to add in their family's meager savings.
Junrey blew out a candle on his birthday cake and said "I'm tired", according to his father; he had been a sickly child and doctors had not been able to say why he stopped growing. Junrey can only walk with some help and he can't stand for too long because he's in too much pain. The family sought advice and he was given medication to strengthen his bones, but these made no difference.
His birthday coincides with Philippines Independence Day, a double party celebration in his village today.
